Hi all
I apologise for the title. I ran out of space, so I just had to let it trail off...
Anyways, I will once again express my disappointment in the outcome of the previous prompt, holidays, as only two entries were submitted. See this journal entry to read them: fav.me/d6x5wb9
I hope that there is a greater outcome this fortnight.
I have been passionate about human rights and animal rights issues for a long, long time, and quite recently I was watching a documentary that sparked, let's say...fury in me. To say the least, I was furious, and I unleashed that fury in this journal entry: fav.me/d6x60l8
Also, fairly recently, the incredibly inspiring Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani school girl who was shot in the head by the Taliban last year for fighting for girls to have an equal right to education, released her autobiography I Am Malala. Being leader of the social justice group at my school this past year, I have followed her story right from when the horrifying news headline hit that the Taliban had attempted to assassinate her. I immediately purchased her book and read it. She is, honestly, the most inspiring person I have seen in my lifetime, and her struggles and those of her people have really opened my eyes.
Recently, also, her autobiography won the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Memoir & Autobiography www.goodreads.com/choiceawards…
All of this, combined with my general passion for these types of issues, has inspired the latest fortnightly theme. I am questioning freedom, and everything that does or does not come with it. What is freedom? How do we perceive freedom? What lengths will we go to to secure freedom for others?
So, after all of that, the current fortnightly theme is Barbed Wire, Chains and Broken Wings.
Make of it what you will. You DO NOT have to write about human rights or animal rights issues, that was just the story that lead to me choosing this theme. As always, I ask you to write whatever this prompt inspires you to write. As long as it somehow relates to the six words in bold above and whatever message you get from that, it counts, and I am sure it will be beautiful.
So here's the important stuff you need to know about the theme BEFORE you submit!!!
It begins on the 9th of December and ends on the 23rd of December Australian time but will not be judged until after Christmas, so as long as you submit your piece before I log in and have time to judge the theme, your piece will be considered. But I could have time to judge it on Christmas Eve, so don't count on me judging them late.
The submission can be any form of literature, but, please, no mature content.
More information (i.e. what you get for winning the theme etc) can be found in this blog entry: we-write-to-escape.deviantart.…
You may interpret the theme however you want, but your piece has to relate to the theme to be considered.
All submissions for the theme must be submitted to the Fortnightly Themes gallery folder by the finishing date.
All submissions to the theme must have the group's name/icon and the theme mentioned in the artist's comments. If you do not do this your deviation does not count. (Also, do not complain about this if you are disqualified for this reason, because you are all supposed to read these rules BEFORE you submit your piece, and it is clearly stated that your piece will not count if these things are not mentioned in the artist's comments).
I hope to see everyone participating!!!!
If you have any questions please comment below and I will answer them as soon as possible!!

Your founder,
Call for last minute entries! Prizes changed, also
Hi all
So, February has come to an end and March is upon us. Therefore, last month's Challenge, Write A Letter to Your Best Friend, is over.
I will not be reading the entries for a couple days, as uni has just started and I have lots of homework, so if you haven't submitted yet but wanted to, last minute entries are completely welcome!!!
As of right now, there are 16 entries in the folder, which is pretty awesome. Hopefully there will be even more when I come on to read them...
Also, as I have only received feedback from one admin in the group, I have had to change the prizes for the challenges.
UPDATED PRIZE LIST IS AS FOLLOWS:

February 2015 Writing Challenge
UPDATE: THERE IS ONE MORE DAY LEFT TO SUBMIT SOMETHING FOR THIS CHALLENGE. I can't wait to see all of your submissions!!
Also, changes may be made to the prizes for the Challenge. But you will be notified if/when this occurs before winners are announced.
Hi all
So, it is February, and February seems to revolve around one day, and one day only: Valentine's Day. There are 27 other days in February, but that is the only one people ever talk about. It's also the only thing people seem to be running contests and prompts about on dA this month. And while one or two love prompts are okay, I'm just sick of trying to write about love at the m
Monthly Challenges + Future Contest
Hello there everyone!
So, it's been a whole two and a half months since I've posted a journal on here, which is devastatingly slack on my part. I am sorry for my absence. A combination of end-of-semester exams, illness and family commitments meant that I haven't been on dA much at all, regularly, since last September. But, nevertheless, I am back and ready to get things rolling over here.
First off, welcome new members, welcome back old members and hello to everyone out there in the dA lit world!! :)
Secondly, I have received some comments from members saying that this group has just become a "deviation dump", and other things along
