Hi all

I apologise for the title. I ran out of space, so I just had to let it trail off...

Anyways, I will once again express my disappointment in the outcome of the previous prompt, holidays, as only two entries were submitted. See this journal entry to read them: fav.me/d6x5wb9

I hope that there is a greater outcome this fortnight.

I have been passionate about human rights and animal rights issues for a long, long time, and quite recently I was watching a documentary that sparked, let's say...fury in me. To say the least, I was furious, and I unleashed that fury in this journal entry: fav.me/d6x60l8

Also, fairly recently, the incredibly inspiring Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani school girl who was shot in the head by the Taliban last year for fighting for girls to have an equal right to education, released her autobiography I Am Malala. Being leader of the social justice group at my school this past year, I have followed her story right from when the horrifying news headline hit that the Taliban had attempted to assassinate her. I immediately purchased her book and read it. She is, honestly, the most inspiring person I have seen in my lifetime, and her struggles and those of her people have really opened my eyes.

Recently, also, her autobiography won the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Memoir & Autobiography www.goodreads.com/choiceawards…

All of this, combined with my general passion for these types of issues, has inspired the latest fortnightly theme. I am questioning freedom, and everything that does or does not come with it. What is freedom? How do we perceive freedom? What lengths will we go to to secure freedom for others?

So, after all of that, the current fortnightly theme is Barbed Wire, Chains and Broken Wings.

Make of it what you will. You DO NOT have to write about human rights or animal rights issues, that was just the story that lead to me choosing this theme. As always, I ask you to write whatever this prompt inspires you to write. As long as it somehow relates to the six words in bold above and whatever message you get from that, it counts, and I am sure it will be beautiful.

So here's the important stuff you need to know about the theme BEFORE you submit!!!

:bulletred: It begins on the 9th of December and ends on the 23rd of December Australian time but will not be judged until after Christmas, so as long as you submit your piece before I log in and have time to judge the theme, your piece will be considered. But I could have time to judge it on Christmas Eve, so don't count on me judging them late.

:bulletgreen: The submission can be any form of literature, but, please, no mature content.

:bulletred: More information (i.e. what you get for winning the theme etc) can be found in this blog entry: we-write-to-escape.deviantart.…

:bulletgreen: You may interpret the theme however you want, but your piece has to relate to the theme to be considered.

:bulletred: All submissions for the theme must be submitted to the Fortnightly Themes gallery folder by the finishing date.

:bulletgreen: All submissions to the theme must have the group's name/icon and the theme mentioned in the artist's comments. If you do not do this your deviation does not count. (Also, do not complain about this if you are disqualified for this reason, because you are all supposed to read these rules BEFORE you submit your piece, and it is clearly stated that your piece will not count if these things are not mentioned in the artist's comments).

I hope to see everyone participating!!!!

If you have any questions please comment below and I will answer them as soon as possible!!
